BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Youth Sports contact (CHRISC Tanzania) is a sports and development organization started in 1999 as a self help youth sports and community development project, the organization which has its headquarter in Arusha runs under the vision and mission of CHRISC in East Africa.

Enhancing youth potential through sport
The organization targets to young people in Tanzania by providing to them a chance to participate in sports and other recreational activities, the sports used are mainly football, volleyball, basketball and netball. The organization is committed to utilizing the power and influence that sports has over the youth to pass life changing information regarding issues like; HIV/AIDS, Substance abuse, Leadership and Christian principles.
Currently the organization has activities established in four different areas within Tanzania which are; Arusha where the main office is located, Mwanza in the northern part of Tanzania along the shore of lake Victoria, Tanga in the southern eastern part of the country along the Indian Ocean coast and Moshi famously known as the land of mount Kilimanjaro. To date more than 8000 youth have participated in CHRISC Tanzania organized activities.

In the last few years CHRISC Tanzania has consolidated and restructured its activities in 3 priority programmes areas
Youth Sports Programme
For these core CHRISC activities key priorities is to improve the organization and participation in newer and smaller zones as well expanding girl’s activities in all zones.
Education and training programme
The key priorities include increasing the number of youth in leadership, improving and field work for CHRISC top leaders and youth. Improving and coming with new system of evangelism seminars and classes so that people can also know God.
Gender Equality
Training programmes to foster mutual understanding of gender roles and relationships. Girls now accepted in soccer and as community leaders
Girls and boys now trained together as coaches, officials and leaders.
Girls have developed self esteem and are coaching boys teams and officiating the matches.
