CHRISC TRAINING CENTER - ARUSHA
CHRISC Training center in Arusha is a CHRISC training centre in Arusha is a project established under the banner of CHRISC Tanzania in one of its operating Area called Arusha. The project is a partnership between CHRISC Tanzania and Suye primary school in Arusha. Activities currently going on are peer education training in regards to Substance abuse, 45 children between the ages of 12 to 16 were trained on the dangers of substance abuse which is becoming a social problem to school going children in Arusha. The students will be trained as leaders who can initiate debate in their respective classes during physical education session and give out information to fellow students on the dangers of abusing substance; this will be an ongoing session during sports session in the school.
The center has also already held 2 Disports bonanzas this year targeting young children of the ages between 13 and 16 years old, the first bonanza was held in January 23rd with environmental awareness as the theme, at least 120 youths were reached during this event where all participating teams were engaged in cleaning up the environment around Suye Primary school.
The second Bonanza was held in March 27th, the theme of this particular bonanza was awareness on HIV/AIDS and substance abuse, this was done through fun games before matches to the team, and the facilitators for these games were peer educators trained at the Training center
